Payment Processing Specialist

Job Purpose: Responsible for processing payments for individuals and entities on behalf of our pharmaceutical customers. Pharmaceutical payments to healthcare professionals require special tracking and reporting to be compliant with the Physicians Payment Sunshine Act, and this position will be responsible for accurate and thorough adherence to this process, as well as providing support for all customer inquiries.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payments via check, wire and EFT through Evolution’s payment application.
  • Verify payment amounts and associated documentation are on file and approved.
  • Maintain data entry logs of all transactions, including uploading payment logs and proofs into the payment tracking system.
  • Comply with federal, state and company policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Research and respond to all customer inquiries and requests related to payment processing in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Prepare payment confirmation notifications for payees.
  • Reconcile and/or note discrepancies.
  • Prepare bi-weekly and monthly customer reports and invoices.
  • Support the year end 1099 payment process including quality control of payments through internal payment transaction records.
  • Tracks and reports key customer metrics such as average turnaround time, outstanding checks, and volume.

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail a must; must have intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant field or work experience.
  • Minimum of one year of payment processing experience, preferably in the financial or healthcare industry.
  • Requires excellent communication skills to form great working relationships with other individuals within the team and client.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Bank of America and Quickbooks.

Working Environment/Physical Demands:

Normal office environment. Normal use of office equipment.  May be required to lift or move files, document or other office material weighing no more than 25 lbs.  Additional hours required during peak times.
